He sat, thinking.

There wasn’t really anything that needed to be said

No cause that needed to be championed

No wrong that needed to be righted

And all and all just not much to be done.

The night hummed quietly along

His thoughts were scattered and subdued

No passion rose within him

No brilliant idea came to him all at once

No sudden desires seized him with determination

And so he kept on sitting and thinking
Now there were things that could be done, sure

And certainly someone was awake

But life seemed to come to a halt as he sat there thinking

And he couldn’t imagine what he could possibly do

Or what he could possibly say

And so he sat

And so he thought

Until the sun rose the next day
